Rethinking the Milk Bottle.

Brief.

The brief wat to design a new and improved plastic milk bottle, which will have appeal to the whole family on the shelf and in the kitchen. The bottle needs to be able to be used by the whole family (including kids). The milk bottle will have to be stable enough to go through the testing, filling and transporting to the shops and customers, in addition, the bottle must hold 2 Pints of milk and be resealable.

Inspiration.

I drew the inspiration for the new milk bottle from the organic shapes and structures of a cow's leg anatomy.

Specifications.

•The bottle and the cap will be fully recyclable as it is made from HDPE  plastic.

•The bottle will be white and will be produced using the existing        manufacturing process (Blow Moulding)

•The bottle cap will be threaded to prevent leaking and is colored black to represent a cows hoof.

•The bottle will be smooth for hygienic purposes with the lid will being textured for extra grip. Within the design, the traditional handle has been removed and shaped ergonomically to fit the shape and hold of different hand sizes and hand positions being suitable for the entire family.

Project Breakdown.

For this project, I focused mainly on making sure the bottle would meet the size requirements while trying to find new ways to use ergonomics efficiently which required a lot of model making and testing. I tried to design the milk bottle to such a way that it would create interest in the shops as well as at home, the design is taken from a cows milk bottle, and when these bottles are packed in a store fridge it gives the suggestion of a herd of cows with there legs coming down through the shelf of the fridge.
