Small living

Brief:

 

To design a living space/products for the young, mobile, urban dweller of the 21st century. Your living space is limited to 15 sq meters and must incorporate all of the basic housing products like:

Bed, Washing machine, Toilet, Shower, Sink, Storage, Sofa/ armchair, Cooking facilities, Fridge, Table

With the target being entertainment meaning the house should be able to accommodate 4-6 people comfortably while entertaining as well as being coy when home alone and relaxing.

Solution:

I will be designing a bespoke piece of furniture that will be able to fit into the 15m² apartment, the piece of furniture will be made of strong reliable wood and will be the centerpiece of both settings, relaxing or entertaining. My target market will be a young adult aged 20-30. the piece of furniture will make use of multi-functional features as well as serving as extra storage on the mezzanine level

The unit fits into a corner and gives the space a lot more storage as well as a dining table and fold-out chairs, the table is folded up and stored as part of the unit with the collapsible chairs underneath, stored away in the cupboard. The unit is tall and appears over the mezzanine level with a section for a bedside table. Its made of ash and mahogany wood with contradicting colors for aesthetics as well as being a strong reliable material. I have gone for the material wood as it gives a very warm cozy feel to space.
